Resource Management

Refreshing and delicious spring water for years to come is paramount. It’s not just good for business, but good for our customers as well.

As one of a few companies that manage water resources for sustainable practices, Deer Park carefully monitors its spring water sources and their surrounding areas. In fact, we work with our on-staff geologists to ensure our spring sources are carefully monitored and managed for sustainability.

Because we don’t just care about where our water comes from, we care about the natural world around us, too.

For instance, through a decade-long partnership with The Nature Conservancy, we’ve helped conserve 426,000 acres of valuable natural resources. In addition, we lease or purchase land around our springs and leave most of that land undeveloped, providing a good habitat for local plant and animal life.

Supporting the environment also extends to the educational community. Through our Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) program, 25 million students have been educated on the importance of water conservation. The goal of this program is to promote the awareness, appreciation and stewardship of water resources through classroom-ready teaching aids.

Waste Reduction

Deer Park is a leader in reducing its environmental impact through responsible production of most of its own bottles. This has allowed us to create the lightest half liter bottle ever produced* – Eco-Shape™ bottle

By creating almost all of our bottles in our own plant, we save enough fuel every year to power 14,500 Toyota® Prius® cars to circle the earth (that’s 6.6 million gallons).**

Plus, a number of our plants are LEED certified, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.*** In fact, we were the first U.S. food and beverage manufacturer to build such a facility. Since building these plants, we’ve conserved nine million gallons of water, reduced emissions and reduced waste by 216 million pounds. Our plan is to make sure all of our future plants are built to LEED certified specifications in the future.

Recycling

We believe our planet connects us all, and it’s up to all of us to help make a difference in our communities.

As part of an environmentally conscious lifestyle, we encourage you to recycle all of our products.

But why stop at just water bottles? Deer Park supports curbside recycling so everyone everywhere can reuse other plastic and paper products.

Did you know a lot of the water we sell comes in reusable containers? Our Home and Office division is the largest returnable bottle beverage company in America. After you get a water delivery from us, we simply pick up the bottles, clean them and reuse them many times over.

When we all do a little, it can add up to a lot.

*Based on a March 2007 nationally conducted audit of half-liter bottles. 34 different half-liter bottles across the water, soda, and tea categories were weighed in 12 cities. On average, the Deer Park™ Eco-Shape™ bottle was found to be the lightest half liter bottle on the market in the U.S., containing 30% less plastic when compared to the mean of other beverage bottles.

**On 6.6 million gallons of fuel, a Prius averaging 55 mpg could circumnavigate the earth 14,577 times. Circumference of the earth = 24,901.55 miles.

***Nestlé Waters North America, the makers of Deer Park Brand Natural Spring Water, currently owns five LEED certified plants.
